"In her piece Collective Body, Baena is investigating the relationship of bodies in their social and physical environments, influenced by practices in modern dance. For this work, she collaborated with the Mexican dancer, Liliana Torres. The two met at a workshop entitle Adapting to be, exploring the meaning of adaptation through processes of appropriation. Alongsidethe video, the viewer can listen to migrant from different backgrounds living in Switzerland renacting phone calls with their loved ones in Armenia, China, India, Bosnia, among many other places. Through that entanglement, Baena opens up a discussion about the notion of otherness, questioning the universal concept of border and collective consciousness"
